Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Pacific Northwest (PNW) is hosted by Oregon State University and operates three expeditions: Girls* on Ice Cascades, Girls* on Icy Fjords, and Expeditions@Home.
EXPEDITIONS
(Click on the images above to learn more about each expedition!)
Girls* on Ice Cascades: First run in 1999, this was our very first expedition. Each year, the team hikes into the North Cascade mountains of Washington state to design science experiments, practice art, and learn mountaineering and glacier travel skills. On this expedition, the team also camps beside a glacier on a volcano!
Girls* in Icy Fjords: During this sea kayaking expedition, we travel to Seward, Alaska, and explore Northwestern Fjord and the surrounding marine environment. Led by a sea kayaking guide and professional scientists and artists, we kayak and camp in striking landscapes and make important connections between glaciers and oceans.
Expeditions@Home: A virtual program begun in 2020, the objective of Expeditions@Home is to demonstrate that adventure starts with curiosity and that every landscape holds wisdom worth exploring and learning from, even ones that seem very familiar to us.
* Inspiring Girls* Expeditions welcomes cisgender girls and transgender, agender, Two Spirit, nonbinary, intersex, and genderqueer youth.
