I love being a part of Inspiring Girls because it combines so many things I love: teaching, sciences, and being in the backcountry. Before coming to graduate school, I spent two years teaching high school field science in Maine and loved it! Alongside teaching science, I became passionate about leading backcountry trips including canoeing, sea kayaking, and cross country skiing. I’ve always loved learning about the earth, and in particular the ocean! As a PhD student, I study ice-ocean interactions in Antarctica and Alaska. As an instructor for Girls in Icy Fjords, I was able to combine my interests in these topics in a beautiful setting alongside awesome participants.
