Growing up in rural Kentucky, I spent a lot of my childhood exploring the fields, woods, and streams around my house. I was lucky to have my curiosity, independence, and love for the outdoors encouraged by my family, which I realized as I grew older was not the experience of most girls I went to school with.  I never grew out of the “why” phase of childhood and strongly believe that nobody should.  Learning how to observe carefully and let curiosity guide your questions is a great way to approach anything in life and I’ve learned that it requires a lot of courage. Being part of Inspiring Girls means working with a group of courageous women to make curiosity in the outdoors more accessible to others, allowing me to combine my love of rocks, water, and plants with my passion for teaching and exploration.
