To our friends, supporters, and applicants for 2020 North American expeditions:
Thank you so much for your support and interest in Inspiring Girls Expeditions. Unfortunately, we are postponing our announcements of the 2020 teams for our North American expeditions, which were originally set for March 20, 2020.
As we’re sure you know, in communities all over the world, including those where we run our expeditions, officials have placed restrictions on travel and group size, in addition to strongly suggesting social distancing and self-quarantine to reduce impacts of the COVID-19 disease. Further, these policies are evolving quickly.
We are monitoring events very closely and working with our host institutions to determine what the COVID-19 response might meant for our expeditions this year. In light of these ongoing changes that are beyond our control, we feel that announcing teams at this time would be premature, as we first need more clarity on whether we will be able to run our expeditions as we normally do. Further information will be communicated to all 2020 applicants via email on April 7, 2020. This applies only to people who submitted applications for our North American expeditions (United States & Canada).
Our first and foremost priority at Inspiring Girls Expeditions will always be the health and well-being of our participants, instructors, staff, and volunteers. We also recognize that in this moment, the decisions we make have the ability to impact the safety and well-being of our family, friends, and strangers in and outside of our communities, something we take very seriously.
In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy! Don’t forget to wash your hands and follow any community restrictions in place. And keep in mind that while social distancing and self-quarantine are happening in many areas, as long as you follow guidelines (e.g. keeping six feet of space between people), now is a great time to get outside to the beach, or on a trail, or to the park. We are doing the same!
