Being part of Inspiring Girls* Expeditions has been an incredible opportunity! I got the opportunity to meet other women and girls that are excited to learn and try something new. Being an instructor on Girls* on Ice has been a fun experience that challenge me as a new outdoor explorer, and getting to camp on Gulkana Glacier with incredible and brilliant participants has been one of my top core memories. Not only did I get to teach about glaciers and share exciting knowledge from my field of research, but I got to learn from them as well. It’s always refreshing to get new perspectives and stories from diverse life experiences.
I am currently a Master’s student at the University of Idaho, where I research how long it takes for seasonal snow on a maritime glacier to melt during spring and what processes facilitate this melting. After obtaining my Master’s degree, I hope to continue to participate in science education programs!
