she/her or they/them
My professional passion is finding ways to inspire individuals and communities to form their own connections with the natural world. I grew up in the Siskiyou Mountains of southern Oregon, where I first formed my personal connection with the land outside my back door. It was my experience as a wilderness ranger in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness during my college years that convinced me to pursue a career path in outdoor recreation management. I’ve spent most of my career with the US Forest Service and other public agencies helping to manage trails, facilities, and programs for visitors to use in enjoying outdoor spaces.
Over time, I found my interests gravitating toward projects that focused on connecting people with the natural world through science and immersion, a goal perfectly suited to the work of Inspiring Girls Expeditions. I’m currently excited to serve half-time as the Program Coordinator for IGE and half-time as the Outreach Coordinator for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, both housed at Oregon State University. I live in Corvallis, Oregon with my partner, two young kids, a dog, two cats, and five chickens. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, knitting, and writing fantasy and science fiction for pleasure.
