I am a PhD student at the Antarctic Research Centre in Wellington, New Zealand. I study the influence of snow on Antarctic sea ice and how the snow cover may influence the fate of the sea ice formation and evolution in the face of climate change and global warming. For my research, I dig a lot of snow pits, and I fly drones to capture the physical properties of the snow, such as snow depth, temperature and density. I have always been fascinated with the polar regions. Still, only in university did I realise being a snow scientist is a valid career path in STEM.
My dream for Girls* on Ice Aotearoa is to show young women the endless variety of science. I want to encourage them to chase their dreams, no matter how big and adventurous they are. If I am not studying snow in Antarctica or the Arctic, I love surfing, playing the guitar and spending time with my friends.
