I am very excited to be a part of the Inspiring Girls* community! I participated in a similar program in high school, so I know the incredible benefits such an experience can provide. The skills and confidence I gained directly contributed to my path through college and to my life as an outdoor enthusiast. IGE is unique because it creates a safe space for young women and provides them with female mentors. I strongly believe in the mission of this organization to increase access to wilderness exploration, to empower females in a physical setting, and to encourage curiosity in the sciences.I graduated from Macalester College with a degree in geology. I then moved to Seward, Alaska, full of curiosity and looking to find more direction before continuing my education. It is there that I found my passion in glaciology. The magic of the ice was the inspiration I needed to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Wyoming. My research is focused on ice deformation and thermal processes in snow on the Greenland ice sheet. When I am out of the office, I enjoy drinking coffee, trail running, and leisurely floating down a river.
