Pronouns: she/her/hers
I am a PhD student at Oregon State University, where my research focuses on using chemistry and field relationships to understand volcanic eruption histories and processes, and the potential hazards that volcanoes may present to nearby communities. Outside of work, I love to spend my time hiking and skiing in the mountains, or at home making music, drawing, gardening, and hanging out with my cat, Louie.
Today, much of my work, outreach, and hobbies involve the intersection of science and outdoor recreation, but I did not become involved in these fields until I went to college. Coming from a smaller town in the Midwest, local opportunities to learn about science or wilderness skills outside the classroom were practically non-existent for K-12 students. Because of this, I really connected with Inspiring Girls Expedition’s goal of expanding access to these opportunities for a more diverse group of people. Together, we can work to make these fields more inclusive!
