Caro is an alpinist and mountain guide who feels most comfortable in rock, ice or mixed terrain. At the age of 16 she was almost on the summit of the highest mountain in South America, Aconcagua, and at 24 she managed the first free ascent of Cerro Torre by a women's rope team. She also has many ascents of difficult routes in the Alps, as well as numerous first ascents and expeditions to her credit. Her expeditions have taken her to various corners of the world, including Patagonia, Antarctica, the Indian Himalayas, Iran and Alaska.

The environment is the playground for her great passion and it is her interest to work for its protection, which is also reflected in her degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Lausanne.
